People have to use some personal discretion with this advice. Most people shy away from visiting dentists or doctors in general because they're well aware of the upselling tactics used on them to get other unnecessary procedures done.

I visited this dentist once to get a cavity filled. She said that theres a gap between my two front teeth which would be "fixed". While she did inform me that it wasn't a health problem and only a cosmetic one, people don't tend to think rationally while they're already in the dentists chair, and in the heat of the moment, I told her to go ahead with it. I unncessarily spent money on a "cosmetic" non-issue that wore off in 2 years. I have that gap again now, and there's absolutely nothing wrong in it. Like it's not even noticeable lol....
