I found myself nodding in agreement to all the points except this one. Isn't it the opposite in this case? In order to save money, wouldn't it be better to use cash, as opposed to cards or mobile payment apps?

If I have cash, all that I have to spend is what's in my pocket. But if there's a card, especially a credit card, I can keep spending on lavish stuff only to regret it later.
